HOMILY REV. JAMES L. NADEAU, PASTOR 32ND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME – 11/8/2020
We are all going to die.
This is not a theory that requires proof. Rather it is a fact that has been proven and continues to be proven every day of our lives. We are all going to die. Because we live in a death-denying culture, it is NOT politically correct to talk about death . . . In fact, most who talk about death are branded as morbid or weird. If my speaking about the fact that “We are all going to die” makes you feel uncomfortable, maybe it is because you have bought into our death denying culture.
“We are all going to die.”
II. The true Wisdom is to make each moment count. To focus one’s attention on what really matters. To live as if each moment is the end. To be like the wise and sensible ones who were prepared when the Master came. To end the day with no regrets.
How may times have we heard, “Well, I really wanted to do this or that but didn’t.?
III. By focusing on the end, which is nothing to be afraid of, we should see what really matters in life. As we wind down this year, for the next begins with Advent, the Church wants us to turn our attention to what really matters – turn to the true Wisdom – that is - living a truly Christian life and making each moment count.
