One day, while at the dentist's office, a little boy broke a toy he was playing with and he started to cry. He took the toy to his mother and asked her to fix it. He knew she could fix it.
In the same way, we must go to God, our Father. We must bring to Him our broken lives, our broken hearts, our broken dreams.
We read that that is what the people in the Gospel did.
The first thing they did was to tell Him about Simon Peter's mother-in-law . . .
They brought to Him all who were ill, sick, and possessed.
They knew He was the One - the Divine Doctor.
So, too, we must take all our brokenness to God: only He is the One who can make sense of things, who can re-orient our lives. You see, everyone is bruised by life's experiences and everyone is in need of some type of healing - whether emotional, spiritual, or physical.
For us, prayer is like doses of medication for the wounded heart. In prayer, Heaven is open, and the ears of God are always attentive.
In our world of brokenness, what will we do? Have a spiritual temper tantrum or take our brokenness to the One who can truly heal us. Without prayer, we are sure to lose our fight with the evil one. He uses every trick to keep us from praying, but if we persevere, the victory is ours.
