TRINITY SUNDAY June 12, 2022 Spiritual reading: Imitation of Christianity. There is a line that got my attention. “What is the advantage of high thoughts about the Trinity if one fails to live what the Trinity is all about.” “What is the advantage of high thoughts about the Trinity if one fails to live what the Trinity is all about.” with terms that come from the surface, not the heart.
What can each person of the Trinity teach us about how to live? God the Father teaches us humility. In Genesis, God is with us. Humbled himself – he walked with them in the garden and helped Adam and Eve. So should we – walk with others. Never think of ourselves as better than another. God the Son teaches us about friendship. Look at the gospels. Not only did Jesus teach and heal those who followed Him, he also befriended them, called them together, laughed and ate with them. Just as Jesus’ life sets the norm we follow – so we too are called to follow him in friendship. Being a friend as He is a friend. God the Holy Spirit, as we learned last week, transformed the world – was the agent of change. Old Testament to New Testament. Cowards to courageous. Weak to strong. Voiceless began to speak. So also with us…
This week, look for opportunities to live, not on the surface (words only), but from the heart.
